Family Celebrations
It’s celebration time again
out kinfolks are coming home
months have passed since they were here
the young will be much taller grown
Old aunts and uncles cherished
for their kind and loving ways
will be happy once again
to be back home for just a day
autumn always calls them back
for mom’s mincemeat and pumpkin pie
and the beauty of the woodlands
soothes the longing of their eyes
oh, how they’d like to stay here
in the old peaceful countryside
reliving memories of their childhood
which by time are magnified
they’ll really make a day of it
collecting memories to dream on
too bad the clock must hurry so
to the time they must be gone
dear ones, I too have memories
to call upon in future years
those old family celebrations
are the times we all hold dear
